The majority of medical illustrators in the profession have a master's degree from an accredited two-year graduate program in medical illustration. There are currently four programs in the United States and one in Canada that are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Each program accepts 16 or fewer students each year, so entrance into the schools is very competitive.

Course work varies somewhat from program to program, but all include an advanced course in human anatomy with dissection and may include a combination of other biomedical science courses such as pathology, microanatomy, physiology, embryology, and neuroanatomical, along with specialized applied art courses such as surgical illustration. Other classes may include color theory, instructional design, photography, interactive media development, 3-D modeling and web design, along with traditional drawing and computer applications.

Most programs require master's thesis or research projects and may have optional courses available in specialty fields such as advanced computer and video graphics, endoscopic illustration, or patient prosthetics.

Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant
Duties and responsibilities
Before electing to undergo medical assistant training programs, individuals may want to know “What does a medical assistant do?” The medical assistant duties and responsibilities are dependent on the employer’s requirements. Medical Assistants may be employed in any health-related site such as a health practitioner’s clinic or office, hospitals, insurance companies, and even commercial establishments. Medical assistants are in great demand precisely because of their ability to competently fill multiple roles simultaneously so it is reasonable to expect that medical assistants would be expected to carry out both clinical and administrative responsibilities. They also need a High school diploma or equivalent
Salary: $28,860-$13.87
Educational requirements:

There are no state-mandated minimum requirements for working as a medical assistant, but most employers prefer candidates who hold at least a high school diploma or educational equivalent. Candidates who have formal training from a community college, technical institution or vocational school might have an advantage at hiring time, but many employers are willing to train new medical assistants on the job. Medical assistants with experience and training, and who pass a specified examination from an independent certifying organization can become credentialed in their field. While certification is not required by any state, employers tend to prefer medical assistants who hold professional credentials, according to the BLS.

Licensed Practical Nurse

Licensed Practical Nurse
Duties and responsibilities:
Many tasks are performed regardless of the job environment. The LPN will usually be the first medical professional to work with a patient. Recording the patient’s history is one of the first duties. Other jobs the LPN performs include:
§  Giving medication as prescribed by a physician
§  Taking vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight
§  Basic wound care including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
§  Giving injections of medication
§  Immunizations
§  Taking medical histories
§  Entering information into computer systems

$40,380 per year--$19.42 per hour

A Licensed Practical Nurse, or LPN, is an integral part of the health care industry. People who are at least 18 years old, drugs-free, have a high school diploma and a clean criminal record meet the basic requirements for entering a training program for a career as an LPN. After successfully completing the training, you can get an LPN license and find employment at nursing homes, hospitals and doctor’s offices. Because the required training time is relatively short and the opportunities for employment are plentiful, an increasing number of people are considering a career as an LPN
